ST JUDE'S BOWRAL

St Jude’s Bowral is a community of Christian people who worship Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The church exists to make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ.

We invite you to join us and discover more about him. Every Sunday of the year we gather to be reminded and encouraged from the Bible in the power of the Holy Spirit.

about

OUR MISSION

Jesus Christ is the risen Lord and Saviour and calls everyone to follow him.

“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20).

St Jude’s exists to make and grow disciples of Jesus in the Highlands

We make disciples by declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We grow disciples by gathering them into churches, that they might worship and obey Jesus now and in eternity to the glory of God the Father.

We invite you to join us and discover more about Jesus.

OUR MINISTRIES

At St Jude’s we have a vibrant community with events and connect groups that meet regularly and cater for the different needs of our diverse community.

We meet at many different times and places throughout the week in order to make the Bible available to all who want to live a life with Jesus. We have groups running for all ages and stages.

We encourage our Christian kids to share their faith with their friends and invite them along to church and Arvo Club. What a joy to evangelise our kids and see them evangelise their friends!

At St Jude’s Youth, we’re all about two things: making great friendships, and learning from the Bible about Jesus and his love for us. If you’re in High School, we’d love for you to come and hang out with us!

We aim to provide opportunities for our members to grow in faith, to find their place of mission, and to build community. through a range of ways

Prayer is so fundamental to the life of our church for the simple reason that God our Father is the one from whom all blessings flow. Our dependence on God, rather than our sinful self-reliance, is never more clearly expressed than in prayer.

Some complex or long term situations may require extra help from Care Teams. These teams are made up of members who have a strong desire to serve others using their specific gifts.

The History of Easter

I often speak to people who find the ideas and values of Christianity appealing, but who struggle with the events of Christianity. Their preference would be to extract those values, see them taught and modeled in schools, the wider community, and in public life, but to leave the question of historical truth aside. However, the events of Easter remind us that this is not possible.

One Body

It was a Friday night of my HSC year when I snapped my cruciate ligament in my left knee while youth group leading. I won’t explain the game, but it was called “Ball of Death” and involved a medicine ball filled with rocks and about 3 meters of rope. Recovery to near full mobility was at least ten months, two operations, and enough time to perfect some balancing tricks with crutches. Living without your body’s full capacity is complicated and difficult.

Church Governance at St Jude's Anglican Church

At a fundamental level the church of Christ around the world is united to him by an unbreakable spiritual bond. All those who submit to Jesus as Lord and Saviour are part of his church. Yet at the level of the local church we need to put in place structures and procedures to organise our life together. We need rules and policies to help the local church operate smoothly and safely, and we need legal and administrative arrangements to organise fellowship between local churches.
